One of my favorite shows from this year's New York Fashion Week would have to be from designer Simon Porte Jacquemus. After Jacquemus' show last summer, he has gained a massive amount of attention. Some even said it was not possible to top his last show. With the lavender colors of the full, fresh garden in Provence mixed with his unique silhouettes and magnificent colors, it's hard to think of anything better.
Low and behold, the man has done it again, but this time with a neutral color palette as the focus.
“It’s the first time in my life that I have designed a collection as if it were my last,” said Simon Porte Jacquemus, as reported by WGSN Journalist Jodelle Diderich.

Now don't panic, Jacquemus isn't hanging up his shears just yet. When he says that this collection was designed like it was his last, he means as though he wanted this collection to be much more meaningful. Therefore, he adopted a more sustainable approach alongside timeless silhouettes. These elegant pieces are the perfect mix between edgy and classic. Something very interesting that remains constant throughout this whole collection is the fabric choice, natural linen. In an interview with WGSN's journalist Jodelle Diderich, Simon Jacquemus recalls a very iconic memory from when he was nine-year-old. Simon recalled a time in which he tore down a natural linen curtain and made his mother a skirt, something in which kickstarted his thought process for this sentimental collection.
This was also Jacquemus' first coed show of his career. "Jacquemus said his decision to switch to coed shows was designed to lighten the load for his team, describing it as a “new beginning” for his label." (Jacquemus RTW, WGSN.com) With this huge change to his fashion label, there are many opportunities in store for Jacquemus and his team. Jacquemus' styles are definitely something to look forward to for the future of New York Fashion Week.
Happy Styling!
