As we all probably know, sustainability is already a huge trend in countless industries that is currently on the rise. The fashion industry in particular has made hopeful progress in the last couple years towards becoming a sustainable business in the future. Personally, as a consumer, I feel responsible for the environmental impact of anything I purchase. Whether that’s groceries or my new white sneakers, sustainability should be taken into account for everybody’s purchase decisions because sustainability is the future of the world. Therefore, after seeing so many developments in the fashion industry towards sustainability, I felt as though a great opportunity had been brought upon me. Sustainable fashion brands make me feel extremely excited and optimistic for the future of fashion, and I thought others would like to join in on the conversation as well! I felt as though highlighting one of my favorite sustainable fashion brands every season would be something special I could bring to this blog for you all!
One sustainable brand that I admire the most would be the brand called Everlane. If you haven't already heard of their ingenious brand, Everlane is an American clothing retailer that sells primarily online. The organization is headquartered in San Francisco, California and also has stores in New York City, Los Angeles, and Palo Alto. The company was founded with the mission of selling fashionable, basic clothing with a complete transparent pricing ideal.
As stated on Everlane’s website, “At Everlane, we want the right choice to be as easy as putting on a great T-shirt. That’s why we partner with the best, ethical factories around the world. Source only the finest materials. And share those stories with you—down to the true cost of every product we make. It’s a new way of doing things. We call it Radical Transparency.”1

Something that really sticks out to me as a neutral wardrobe enthusiast about Everlane is how elegant each piece of clothing is. As stated on their website, Everlane says that they're not big on trends. They want their consumers to wear their pieces for years, even decades, to come. That’s why Everlane has promised to source the finest materials and factories for their timeless products. I am never disappointed with how their garments make me feel while wearing them, both mentally and psychically! One of my favorite pieces from their current line for Summer 2020 would be their Linen Short-sleeved Jumpsuit.

This linen jumpsuit is easily a summer classic. This jumpsuit has a versatile short-sleeve silhouette, a functional button-front, side pockets, and a cropped straight leg. Everlane also makes this product out of soft, breathable linen, to keep you looking and feeling naturally cool all season long.
This next product is a must-have for everyone's wardrobe. No matter what the day is looking like for me, I am absolutely drawn to this piece in the mornings. Whether I’m going out or just staying in, Everlane’s Oversized Alpaca Sweater will keep you feeling comfortable and confident all day.

This sweater is Everlane’s alpaca sweater. A cool rib pattern combined with a crew neckline, this sweater has all the warmth of a cozy knit with a plush, airy feel. I personally love alpaca because the fabric is less prickly, longer-lasting, and resists pilling. As an added bonus, alpaca is better for the environment! As stated on their website, alpacas are soft-hooved and gentle grazers, which makes them easier on pastures than other herd animals!
Everlane as a brand gives the consumer all of the knowledge they could ever want on their products, from where the cotton was grown to who sewed the garment together. According to the True Cost, a documentary highlighting the reality of the fashion industry, states that the average American throws away 82 pounds annually of garments, accessories and shoes. Fulling this is the creation of cheap trendy collections, known as fast fashion. 2 Everlane is showcasing one way to become a completely sustainable fashion brand, therefore revolutionizing the future of fashion. Sustainability is going to be a huge part of the future of fashion, and I feel as though it’s our responsibility to spread the word!

In regards to advertising and starting conversation about some of my favorite neutral based staples, I feel a special responsibility to start conversation for sustainable brands on the rise. Some social media site postings I would take into account for spreading the word about Everlane would be either Twitter, Instagram or Snapchat. All it takes is to add something to your story or post once about it to raise others awareness about this incredible glimpse into the future of fashion brand, Everlane.
